Jane’s Walk 2023 – Day 7

Today is another scorcher, and the mist has lifted. We wonder what changes in the atmosphere to disperse the mist like that from one day to the next without any sign of wind.

Back to the salt marches with little protection from the heat for us and Moses. At least he can find the occasional pool that is not too muddy to cool himself down. The temperature has risen to 28C by the time we get to Morston, and we are feeling pretty drained and are glad to take a break for lunch. We are joined for lunch by our host for the weekend, her 2 Labradors and a mutual friend of ours who has driven down from Scotland with her dog to join us.

The remaining couple of hours of today’s walk are mitigated by a gentle breeze, making walking more pleasant, and the arrival of boisterous young labradors cheers Moses up no end. Our stopping point is Blakeney, a busy seaside town full of tourists on this sunny Saturday afternoon.

We much look forward to our day off tomorrow as we head back to our host’s home.
