Jane’s Walk 2023 – Day 8
We have a blissful day off, and it is so wonderful not to have any deadlines to meet.
We have a guided tour around Halcott Hall, a fascinating property with a long history of the Leicester family stretching back to the 12th Century. Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, probably being the best known during the reign of Elizabeth 1st.
Our kind host gives a lunch party for us, and in the evening we go out in a friend’s sailing boat, which has an electric motor, which makes travel very silent and peaceful as we tour around the island out of Burnham Overy. We gather a bucket of Samphire, which one of the inlets is covered in, and we have it for supper with butter, delicious.
